Click Here for Printer friendly Page Mission Statement: Full of Faith (or full of food?) exists to touch the hearts, minds and souls of overeaters and food addicts everywhere with confident expectation of ongoing recovery through faith and hope in Jesus. Who We Are: We are a Christian Twelve-Step support group for people seeking guidance and encouragement in overcoming food addiction. Seeking God’s will in our lives, we study the Bible and The Twelve Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous from a Christian perspective. God (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) is our higher power. We believe that sugar, flour and wheat are addictive substances, which set up cravings in the physical make-up of a food addict (just like alcohol sets up cravings in an alcoholic’s mind and body), and recovery is an ongoing process that requires perseverance and constant vigilance. We face challenges and make decisions each new day. Whether we have one minute of abstinence or years of abstinence, we acknowledge that we have a physical malady: the disease of food addiction, and we are all equal, just one bite away from a binge. “If you think you are standing strong, be careful for you, too, may fall… But remember that the temptations that come into your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will keep the temptation from becoming so strong that you can’t stand up against it. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you will not give in to it.” (l Corinthians l0: l2-l3, Life Recovery) Our motto is “Progress, not perfection.” If we overeat, or make poor choices, we ask God for help, we forgive ourselves, and we continue to follow our committed plan of eating for the rest of the day. We strive to be full of faith, not full of food. For support and encouragement join our E-mail loop foodaddictsfulloffaith@yahoogroups.com |
